Another installment in Connell's extremely popular and successful Seminar Series was completed on Friday afternoon. The presentation focused on recent and upcoming changes in wage and hour statutes and on harassment prevention. The half-day seminar, featuring speakers Paul w. King and Lynette Weatherford, was held at the University Plaza hotel in Springfield Missouri. It was one of our most interactive seminars to date, with plenty of questions and audience participation.
Mr. King, who was recently named a "Super Lawyer" for the third year in a row, received his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri – Columbia, School of Law. His "Super Lawyer" designations resulted after the sending of over 23,000 ballots to Missouri and Kansas layers who have practiced for at least five years, asking them to nominate attorneys who they have observed in practice and who they consider to be the best in their respective fields. Mr. King provided insight and information regarding exempt employee rules, overtime rules, minimum wage changes, and employment discrimination.
Lynette Weatherford, owner and founder of Human Resource Advantage, LLC, has been in the HR field for more than 16 years. PHR certified and a member of the National Society for Human Resource Management, she spoke about harassment prevention in the workplace. The seminar was organized by Randall Gammill, an ownership partner of Connell Insurance and noted Work Comp expert, who also provided the closing remarks.
