Connell Insurance wrapped up another successful seminar today at the Residence Inn and Conference Center in south Springfield. Speaking to a full house, David Zerrer provided a judge's insight into ways to manage the costs, lost time, and lost productivity of occupational injuries. As the new Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Springfield Office of the Missouri Division of Worker's Compensation, he went over the "anatomy of a work comp claim," and gave tips to employers to better navigate the system's processes and avoid common mistakes. Participants learned how they as employers can play an active role in the administrative law process of Missouri's Division of Work Comp and better manage their cases.
Mr. Patrick Platter and Mr. Jeff Goodnight, Attorneys at Law and Partners at Neal & Newman, LLP, both discussed how recent and upcoming federal employment law changes affect employment law compliance, hiring, training, and termination procedures, including the recently enacted Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and the recently introduced Employee Free Choice Act. Mr. Goodnight went on to deepen the discussion of these topics, focusing specifically on information valuable to HR professionals.
Like most of our events, this seminar was pre-approved for continuing education credit for HR professionals who are PHR or SPHR certified. If you'd like to be notified of future conferences about Work Comp and other topics of interest to HR Managers, please contact Randall Gammill.
